Compiere has a great way to define forms for documents, such as orders, invoices etc which can be previewed with the compiere printbutton, located at the top of the window. You will notice that this button is grayed out for the non-document transactions.

However, this previewfunction can be of value for non-document transactions, such as the productiontransaction. We've set up a tutorial that shows you how to do this. With this example, you could for instance define a document that can be used in your assembly-shop as a workorder.
